It is most unfavourable in most jobs to have a physical handicap of any kind. Insufficient eyesight or the absolute lack thereof in particular can limit your choice of work or whether you are able to perform your duties.

To be blind – the very thing that is an almost insurmountable obstacle in other lines of work is something that is very beneficial to the customer when it comes to translations and interpreting. Language itself, out of sheer necessity, is perceived more accurately. Stimuli from the outside are far less likely to distract from your work. Visual stimuli in particular do not mean any loss of focus at all. Hardly anyone listens just as closely as a blind person does. And one can hardly assume that someone who is blind would suffer from exhausted eyes when working in front of a computer screen for an extended period of time. At the same time, however, a modern technical environment allows working with computers without suffering any losses. In this way translations can be handled in a very efficient manner.

Personally, I started my educational career at a school specifically designed for the special needs with the handicap I have. Yet after a few years I changed schools to ordinary education centers, obtained my general qualification for university entrance and dedicated my studies to literature in the English language as well as psychology. Later I took my tests in Munich and successfully became a certified translator and interpreter.

By now language is no longer merely a job I do, it has become part of every aspect of my life. While I gladly provide others with my services and offer my skills, I enjoy writing numerous texts in my spare time.

Just as language, that has many layers and is more complex than the sum of words. we are more than the sum of our parts. This is why it is important to me to treat every contract and every task set before me as an individual construct. As something that deserves special attention and unique care.
